From Wigmore Hall to Springwell Senior Living: Acclaimed Pianist Tom Zalmanov Named Musician-in-Residence

Baltimore, MD – September 8th, 2026 — Springwell Senior Living is proud to welcome acclaimed pianist Tom Zalmanov as its newest Musician-in-Residence (MIR), continuing the community’s longstanding partnership with the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University.

Now in its second decade, Springwell’s Musician-in-Residence program brings accomplished musicians into the daily life of the senior living community, creating opportunities for residents to experience live music and build meaningful relationships through the arts.

A first-prize winner of major piano competitions throughout Israel, Zalmanov brings an impressive international performance background to Springwell. He recently made his debut recital at London’s prestigious Wigmore Hall and has performed at Steinway Halls in New York and London and on Chicago’s Myra Hess Memorial Series, where his performance was broadcast live on WFMT Radio. He has also appeared as a soloist with orchestras including the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Israel Symphony Orchestra, Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra and Bayer Philharmoniker in Germany.

Zalmanov is currently pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts at the Peabody Institute, studying with renowned pianist Richard Goode. A graduate of the Jerusalem Music Centre, he regularly works with legendary pianist Murray Perahia and has participated in masterclasses with Emanuel Ax, Angela Hewitt and Menachem Pressler, among others.

While his résumé includes some of the world’s most celebrated concert halls and musical institutions, Zalmanov’s decision to become a Musician-in-Residence is rooted in something much more personal: the opportunity to make music part of a community.

At Springwell, Zalmanov will perform concerts and informal musical programs while engaging directly with residents through conversations, educational opportunities and performances woven into everyday community life.

“We are delighted to welcome Tom to Springwell,” said Phil Golden, Principal and Executive Director of Springwell Senior Living. “Tom has performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, but what makes him especially exciting for our community is his genuine desire to connect with people through music. We look forward to seeing those relationships develop and to experiencing the incredible artistry he will bring to Springwell.”

The Musician-in-Residence program has become a nationally recognized model for intergenerational engagement through the arts. By embedding talented musicians within the community, Springwell creates an environment where music becomes part of residents’ everyday lives — fostering connection, conversation, inspiration and joy.

With Zalmanov’s arrival, Springwell continues its commitment to bringing exceptional musical talent into the community while demonstrating the powerful role the arts can play in enriching life at every age.
